Jonathan Webb Workshop Sept 14-15

Hello everyone!
ASL message:
English message:I am excited to announce that Jonathan Webb, PhD, who is also the current President of the RID Board of Directors, is coming to our neck of the woods to present a two-day workshop in September!  Dr. Webb will be presenting “Unpacking Identity and Power in a System of Supremacy” on September 14 – 15, 2019.  The two-day workshop is based in social justice area and provided for experienced deaf, coda, and hearing interpreters.  The deaf community is also welcome to participate.  Interpreter participants will earn 1.2 CEUs in Professional Studies at the “Little” content level.  The workshop flyer (in PDF format) is attached to this message.  The language of the workshop is ASL.  There will be no English interpretation.
This workshop, at an introductory level, will explore nomenclature, prevailing ideologies and systems, conscious and unconscious biases, and the intersection of social justice and ASL / English interpretation.  While introductory, participants will have the opportunity to engage in critical thought around how we participate in systems of oppression and the process by which we can make another choice.  Participants are encouraged to enter with a courageously open mind and a willingness to engage in wise compassionate self-care.
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center is located in Lebanon, NH which is very close to the border between New Hampshire and Vermont.  The renowned medical center has several conference rooms, one of which will be used for the workshop, along with easy access to clean restroom facilities, a variety of dining and beverage options, ample parking spaces, and is a short distance from major interstate highways.
Profits from this workshop will be shared among New Hampshire and Vermont Deaf organizations and RID affiliate chapters.  That’s right… after all expenses, all remaining funds will go towards local New Hampshire and Vermont deaf and RID organizations!
